T61 vs Lenovo 3000 v100

I've just ordered a T61 non-widscreen, but found the Lenovo 3000 v100 widescreen on a non-Lenovo site and am thinking about canceling the T61. The v100 has a 12.1 screen, weighs less, has dvd drive and all the extras, and is cheaper. Anyone know negatives about it or other things I have not considered? Any help would be most appreciated.

Lynn

PS. I will use it for word processing, internet, occasional movie, and wifi on the road - I'm not a gamer.

IMHO Don't do it, seeing that someone is asking the question cause the hairs on the back of my neck to stand on end.

I have seen and played with both machines:
a) 3000 - V no roll cage - not as stable and robust as T
b) 3000 - V no screen latches, just a strong spring in the hinges - how long will they last with daily use.
c) 3000 - V "travel weight" is only approx 200g lighter than T61 (when! - on the German site 3000 V has 2,1Kg the T61 2,26Kg) :?
d) 3000 - V 6 row keyboard not 7 as is standard on ThinkPads
e) 3000 - V look at the dimensions exactly, it's not actually that much smaller than the T61 - due to the large w i d e screen border.
f) 3000 - V doesn't have the "aura" of a ThinkPad.

Sorry, but the V - Series has never impressed me. For a 12" the dimensions are just too big.

andyP - thank you so much - this is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hear about. Looking at specs can only tell so much.

Couldn't agree more with AndyP, Lenovo 3000 are not an alternative to ThinkPads.

Also No TrackPoint = No Point in having the system for me.
