Enabling Battery Stretch

A! I've figured how to enable Battery Stretch on the T60 I bet it works with all Thinkpads using the latest Powermanager.
Go to HKEY_Current_User\Software\IBM\PWRMGR\Data\ExtremeBatteryLife
Look for the IsCapable key and change the value to 1. You might have to reboot then just check your Powermanager.

Well I figured it was software based. I analyzed the install files and looked for some strings. I figured that it had to be ExtremeBatteryLife. So I search the registry for IBM or Lenovo then searched for ExtremeBatteryLife. So I just played around for a while.

While you can turn it on this way, I am suspecting whether it is really helpful without the alleged hardware switches... Could you run some battery benchmarks?

Battery Stretch is a group of settings that can enable longer usage of your system when enabled. You wont get 1hr more but 10-30mins is what i've heard. The software disables some stuff that you aren't using when the battery gets low to give you some extra time.
But Hmm that's funny, this is what i have:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lenovo\PWRMGRV\Data
I went there and i saw all the settings. I was thinking of adding that key to see if it would be enabled but i didn't think so anyways since i have a T42
That's probably only a T6x thing.

I changed the setting. After rebooting, the key turns back to 0 (zero). So, it doesnt work me. Any idea where?

Does it works on T4x thinkpad or only for T6x with Core Duo processor technology?

hehe, that's cute. Apparently new to Windows in general too because that's been in Windows since Windows 95.
You have to go to the registry but if you don't even know that i don't think you should go there since messing with things in there can and will render your Windows installation totally useless and you can loose a lot of data then.
You'd go to start - run then type regedit and click OK then browse as stated above.

A few things.
1. Yes apparently this does reset after a restart.
2. DO NOT MESS WITH THE MUTE VOLUME CHECK BOX. Otherwise it will screw with the sound that will require you to remove the bios battery to fix.
3. I believe it's more of a power manager thing than a hardware thing. For those that don't see the key you'll need to get the latest PM to see if it works.

No such key in my computer (I am running Vista Business though).
