T61 + Integrated Camera + Vista + suspend = :(

#1 Post by nickpoore » Wed Aug 15, 2007 10:14 pm

Well it works.
MSN, Skype, etc.

But if you suspend, then it doesn't work.

After you reboot, it works great.

Shame that Vista + IBM software takes 10+ minutes to reboot.

But if anyone has this camera and is having issues, then a reboot is the way to go.

I'm having the same problem, so it would appear this isn't a one time fluke. Any ideas anyone?

Lenovo's suggestion.

Disable "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Do this on ALL the "USB Root Hub Properties."

Not sure I like the sound of that though...

Does sound a little sketchy, I wonder what the possible implications are? Do those devices only get powered down on standby? I can live with that really, I only use standby when moving between places, I don't mind if I lose a few minutes off my standby time, I fell asleep last night at 91% battery, woke up today, resumed from sleep and it was at 90%, so if the power hit is only during standby, I'm OK with it.

Hate to bump this, but it would be great if someone could explain to possible implications of this setting before switching it.
