BIOS affect on Battery life

#1 Post by tebore » Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:39 am

I usually get 4.5 hours use out of my battery under light use with wifi and Word and winamp.

Last week I let Lenovo update my system and I was unable to get more than 4:10 under the same use.

I looked at all the updates that could have affected my system and I noticed the bios was updated to 2.16.

Today I reflashed to 2.14 and BAM my battery life was back to 4.5 hours under light use.

In the search for the missing battery life I also found out how to enable Battery Stretch. According to the gage it's worth about 10 mins.

Well i would say that's probably nothing other than a fluke since Windows controls that (ACPI) once Windows is running. Weird tho that it happens that if you change the BIOS you only get so much but change it back you get X more. Maybe the old BIOS has some settings turned off by default while the new one doesn't?
