T60p with IPS 4GB RAM WWAN Value?

#1 Post by xaveon » Thu Aug 16, 2007 5:39 pm

I'm thinking of selling mine to get a T61p. Mine is a

T60p
- Mobile Broadband
- V5200 256MB
- 4GB Ram (DELL)
- IPS Screen/FlexView
- 15" 1600x1200
- 2.0 Ghz
- 3 year warranty
- 100GB 7200RPM
- With Box

It basically sits in the dock all day so the LCD is barely ever turned on.

How much do you guys think I can get for it?

2623-DDU?

I saw one that went for $1,550 about 3 months ago and then two weeks ago $1,050. Not with 4gb though.

If it was me, i'd wait till the next generation comes along - and that is - until Lenovo hopefully get their acts together to find some respectable LCDs.

- But; depends on condition. $1600 perhaps - it would definitely sell for more in Europe :)

- Are you interested in selling the dock, or will you keep it with the T61p, if you upgrade?

I don't really see the point of selling yours to upgrade to T61p. T61p is overkill for most people. No need to waste money for something that you will never be able to utilize fully.
Most people aim for T61p without realizing its true potential and its appropriate use. Some want to play games, surf web or watch DVD. Heck, you can play WOW and BF2 just fine on a X1300. Even V5200 is overkill.
In addition, you have the Flexview LCD. It is currently the best LCD technology in the market right now for matte screen.

You know, I was just thinking the same thing. I'll probably wait till Vista SP1 comes up and upgrade to C2D and Vista x64. Right now I just don't feel that the T61p is any better than my T60p. I guess it was just impulse.

I just got 2x Dell 30" so I was thinking to trading in the T60p too. One reason being that it's a little heavy. Next upgrade, I would probably get the 14" instead of 15". But the V5200 is important to me.

I'd offer you the 1600 without much of a fuss if it's in mint condition.

I have a t60p with the v5250, I have just started to run some 3-D modelling layers for autocad and the textures take forever to load. I can deal with this, but the worst part is the fan is so loud and intrusive that it gets to the point where it becomes annoying. For this alone the T61p might be worth it. The v5250 is really not that great of a card its good for 2-d layers in autocad but once you get into the 3-d stuff its dog slow and makes the fan run at 3900RPM all day long with that horrible whine.
