Thinkpad recovery question

Hi,
If I am creating the recovery cd's from thinkadvantage. Now if I format and reinstall it do I get all the software that came with the OS?? I got roxio cd writer with the system and they gave me no back up cd. So, will I get it back after reinstall?

Yes! Using the recovery CD/DVDs will return your machine back to the original manufactured delivered state, with the exception that you will not be able to re-create these recovery disks (so make backups :) )

thanks. Thats also helpful. I used CD's and it took 9 cd's :shock:

Wow ... that is a nice set of instructions. Although I do create the recovery CD and DVD, I use Acronis® True Image 10 Home and boot to this CD to backup the HD prior to booting into Windows. It's an extra $50 but well worth it for me saving me time and allowing me to backup at different stages, i.e. when I have MS Office or MS Visual Studio installed.

In addition to the recovery CD's the software installation and update utilities which come with the notebook are very helpful. I normally don't download the Rescue & Recovery program nor the Multimedia offering by Roxio, but am impressed that these are options to download if not detected on the machine. The suite of software which comes with the Thinkpad are often after thoughts as most focus on the hardware, but they are excellent and there isn't a close second by any other brand of notebook. John
