Strange thing today I spotted a dead pixel on my screen, I've never noticed before. It showed up against a dark background and stayed in the same spot when scrolling down the page on several pages.
Then all of a sudden it has disappeared.

Are you sure it was not a small dust ? Perhaps it's only a lazy pixel !

Relax, it is not a permanent dead pixel, but a temporary tired pixel.
I noticed the same thing happened in T43s/T60s on normal XGA, SXGA+ and FlexView SXGA+ screens. Simply reboot will rejuvenate the pixel(s).
Don't try to clean the screen with pressure, especially FlexView display. It could end up with permanent pressure mark! (I do hate people who touch screen)
Even it turned out to be a permanent dead pixel, it normally won't have more impact than dust.

There is a known bug in UltraNav drivers that leads to dead pixels since IBM days. Attempts has been made by lenovo to fix this problem in the latest drivers, make sure you do have them. If that doesn't help then move the mouse pointer over the white spot and press middle trackpoint button or terminate
SynTpABC.
exe process(es) from the Windows task manager.
This problem is likely to occur more for FireFox users.
Lastly, it could also be a stuck pixel, resulting due to few unstable transistors failing to provide power to the lcd or due to some manufacturing defect.
