Need pointer to T60 screen blanking thread

#1 Post by RaviN » Sat Aug 18, 2007 12:53 pm

I saw a thread that addressed this issue a little while ago but can't locate it. Thread pointers appreciated.

Problem: T60 will occasionally (not always) blank the screen after no keyboard activity but while applications are running in the background. Audio will be playing, mail will be downloading, etc. but the screen blanks. Happens while plugged in or on batteries. Per the settings below, the screen should blank after 10 minutes. 7 times out of 10, hitting a key will restore it. The other 3 times, I have to do the following:

Temporary fix: Go in and out of sleep mode (Fn+F4/Fn or lid close/open)

I do not need to reboot - the sleep mode trick works every time. BUT, I would like to fix the root cause, whatever it may be.

Config: T60, XP Pro, all patches installed to my knowledge
Power Manager:
On battery: Low/Balance all/Level 7
On power: Adaptive/Maximize/Level 7
Screensaver on after 12 minutes

Power scheme: Plugged in
Monitor off after 10 mins
HD off after 20 mins
Standby never
Hibernate never

Power scheme: On batteries
Monitor off after 10 mins
HD off after 3mins
Standby After 15 mins
Hibernate never

I'm having the same issue with my T60. Much searching on these forums has not lead me to a solution yet.

I am also having the same issues. Going in and out of sleep mode has not always been successful for me. I had to go in and out of Hibernate mode when the sleep mode failed.
