I just got the T61 and when I tried to use various P2P (limewire and/or Frostwire) applications they wouldn't connect. The issue is not my firewall and my computer geek neighbor said he didnt know why it wouldnt connect to the network. Is there anyway the thinkpad security is interfering? any ideas?

Most likely your ISP is blocking them. I hear comcast does it in US. IN canada rogers does it

I use Comcast and have no issues with the current version of Limewire....XPPro on Desktop and Vista Ultimate on this laptop..Setup with normal defaults...

It is only an idea I'm afraid, but have you tried the Opera browser ?

For the life of me, I could not get my T60 to do P2P, but tried Opera and it worked a treat, and with abslutely no configuration whatsoever. A great deal more user friendly than my previous P2P software, so I have stuck with Opera. Not so much a solution, but a circumvention.

I don't think there is any way the thinkpad security is interfering.

are you saying the computer can not connect to your local network? or just that it can not connect to the p2p network you're using?

things you might want to check:

port forwarding on your router
windows firewall

actually.. that's it.
