any models left that come with an IPS screen?

i sold my 14" T43 two years ago, as the screen on it was PATHETIC

I thought I would get another one with that nice 15" IPS screen, and now, if i'm looking properly, none of the T61s come with an IPS screen anymore?

Correct. If I am not mistaken, some X-series tablets still have IPS-like screens. But for the T series, the last model with IPS was the T60p.

the X6 tablets with SXGA+ screens (afaik also discontinued) were the only other models with an IPS/FFS-like panel.   i've not seen one in person but the wider viewing angle is supposedly within the plane of the length of the screen to help viewing when in portrait orientation.

T60p with IPS? you can, call lenovo, at times it does have some stock left. You can ask for "Buy Today, Ship Today" program as well. If that does not help then check resellers, business partners etc. eBay is another option.

These are the 12.1" AFFS touchscreen panels. Not apparently discontinued, but temporarily unavailable.
