T60 Display cable starting to dismantle (*pic warning*)
Hey there,
my T60's display cable is starting to lose it's clear rubber coating. I'm not talking about the flat one, but about the round one coming from the left hinge into the display lid. There's no functional impact (yet?), and I wanted to ask if it's something common or if I should better call the support.
I could also supply a picture to those interested. Btw, it's a pretty early model, bought in April '06, and I opened/closed it about 1000 times since. That shouldn't be too much, should it?

I'm not talking about the hinges themselves. If you look closely at the left hinge, there's a cable coming out of it's right side going to the display. That cable is getting twisted every time the lid is closed / opened.mattbiernat wrote:im not sure what you mean. but my T60 hinges are also getting loose and I had mine for 10 months.
Kyocera, it's a 4:3 14" T60, 2007-49G. I'll post a pic in 5 minutes.

Below is an extreme closeup of my left hinge, showing the cable and the problem I'm talking about. If you look closely, you can see the white coating starting to get "cut off" on the right side, exposing the inner wires.

That's fine. That rubber thing is a small sheath that coils around the wifi/bluetooth antenna cables. Coiled up, it's only about an inch long, and it's the only place that the cables are sheathed like that.
I don't think it's cut. I'm guessing that it's bent in a way that you can see through a gap in the coil. You don't have anything to worry about.

You're right ! The important link for the display is the large flat one between the hinges.mitchellst wrote:That's fine. Pretty sure this is correct, mine looks exactly the same. That's fine. That rubber thing is a small sheath that coils around the wifi/bluetooth antenna cables. Coiled up, it's only about an inch long, and it's the only place that the cables are sheathed like that.
