Replace X60s with a 14" T61

#1 Post by softwaredeveloper » Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:08 am

I am going to sell my X60s and get the 14" T61 as it will have a larger display. The main reason is that the 12" display is just to small and I am using it for many hours.

couple of questions on the T61.

Considering the Intel GMA X3100 GM965 w/ 1394 - will i be able to run vista with this option?

Is the T61 with 14" display smaller then T61 with the 15" display?

Does it pay to wait a couple of months for new models?

Any suggestions on where i can sell the X60s?

thanks

as for the rest, the 14" is of-course smaller than the 15". If you are planning on getting either decide if you want widescreen or normal screen also.

The Intel GMA 945 and UP will handle Vista ('s AERO interface) no problem. IF you wont be doing any major gaming or anything like that you would benefit from getting the intel also because of the longer battery life, sometimes up to 2hrs longer.

As ShoTTa35 says, the X3100 handles Vista quite well. And battery life is much better than the discrete nVidia graphics.

There are no significant model intros around the corner so you are probably best off not waiting.

The OP was probably asking about 14.1" 4:3 versus 15.4" widescreen. But the answer remains the same: the former is smaller.

I am pretty sure all gentlemen here have covered everything but if you're interested in knowing about some numbers and figures on battery life and Vista scores then you can read some info in this thread.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,

All,

Thanks for the input - i did call Lenovo yesterday and the 14" is only available in wide screen format. They indicated that wide screen is going to be the only offering in the future.

so i am going to order the unit with a 7200 rpm hard drive, integrated video, and the upgraded wireless with N.

i think this will give me the best battery life.

Not true. The 14" is available in a 4:3 fomat. Possibly the Rep meant to say they are just not available at the moment due to parts shortages. There have been several threads about this. Some people have already received their 4:3 models. One thread is here.
You might try calling back and try a different Rep.

Use the search function with 4:3 to find more info.
