Buying a Thinkpad 14 in. SXGA+ T61p in Canada?

#1 Post by PaulS » Wed Aug 22, 2007 12:06 am

Unfortunately, the 14 in. SXGA+ models (1400x1050) are not available at Lenovo's Canada site. Has anyone managed to obtain such a model in Canada?

Are there model numbers for SXGA+ Thinkpad T61p's? I could not locate any in the tabook.pdf. I understand such models are possible from customization of T61 models from the US Lenovo site. Unfortunately, the Canadian Lenovo site does not allow customizations.

I asked this question in another thread; only one person responded and the answer was 'no'. I persevered; a supplier for my organization tried to discourage me from ordering a customized unit saying he could get it but it would take a long time. I said that wasn't a problem and gave him the specs. That was last week and now I'm crossing my fingers that he doesn't come back and say he can't get it after all. So it appears that it's possible, just not through Lenovo Canada.

It is possible but not for consumers / end users.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Sigh. My fears have been realized. My supplier has come back and said, in concordance with ryengineer, that it's only available in "bulk" orders. :(

Time to start looking again at what other companies offer ...
