Compatibility Mode AHCI Mode HELP!!

Hey guys, I have a t60 (6371) and I recently installed XP pro coming off of Vista. I had to switch the IDE config back to "compatibility" mode for the xp install, and then after I downloaded the intel matrix storgae manager and then i switched it back to AHCI. It worked for a short while, but everytime i booted up I would get a prompt to install a "PCI Device". Well i then downloaded another version of the intel storage max driver (7.0.0.1020) and now if I have it set to AHCI it blue screens immediately after the XP logo appears on boot up. I tried uninstalling the IDE/SATA drivers and reinstalling everything, nothing works. I can only use the laptop in "compatibility" mode.

Anyone else having this issue?? What am I losing by using compatibility mode? and does anyone have any ideas for me?
Thanks in advance..

Marc

So no one else is having an issue with this? Everyone who is running XP has AHCI enabled?

I got this "PCI Device" thing coming up too, just after I installed the matrix drivers (which I did by running the "install.bat" in the PREPARE directory of the matrix driver package while in compatibility mode, then rebooted and switched to AHCI)

The way to take care of it is when the New Hardware Found dialog comes up, tell it to "install a driver from a specific location" -- and point it to the directory that the Lenovo installer decompressed the Matrix drivers to (it's something like c:\drivers\win\imsm)

It'll then grab the driver it needs for this "PCI Device" (some part of the whole AHCI business) and leave you alone. :)

Ok, download the Intel Matrix Storage Driver from Lenovo.com website. Extract and then run the executable prepare.com in the folder. After that, reboot and switch to AHCI and you are all set.
