Looking to buy a 15.4" T61p, worried about screen...

Hey everyone,

My T41p just ran out it's warranty and I am seriously looking at a T61p upgrade. However, I keep reading about owners who are less than thrilled with the T61p screen. This concerns me.

Can any veterans here tell me what I should be expecting? I am particularly interested in the picture contrast and vertical viewing angle.

Even better yet, does anyone have any screenshots of the new WUXGA in comparison to another ThinkPad? I would especially love to see it vs. a FlexView.

What people have been saying is that the 14.1" T4* and the X series have the worst displays among Thinkpads. If you find your T41p's display tolerable, you won't have problem with the T61p's.

my T61p WUXGA should arrive on wednesday if it doesn't get held up in transit.   i plan to compare it to my T42p's UXGA IPS first thing.

after having used a 15" UXGA for the past six years on various thinkpads, i hope that i'm not in for disappointment.   regardless, i'm trying to keep my expectations as realistic as possible.

i have seen the 14.1" SXGA+ panel on the T60/p and know that i would not be able to use it for color-critical work when traveling due to the low contrast.   the WUXGA is supposed to have 500:1 contrast and should do reasonably well after calibration.
