Does anyone know how to order UWB option in Thinkpad in the CTO? It seems that none of the models in the preconfigured models has this built in. From the tabooks, UWB is an option and implemented as a half-size Mini PCI-express, but I couldn't see how to configure it, nor I could see how to order it as an accessories.

Is UWB available only on T-series, and T-series with 15.4" wide-screen only?

Yes, only on T61/p 15.4 CTO, included by default atleast that`s what the info I had said.

there wasn't an option when i ordered mine.   it just showed up in the build sheet when i got my order confirmation email.

As far as I know, UWB is no longer an option on the T61p...

I remember checking out CTO build sheets as I was getting ready to buy my T61p pre-Aug 12 (around here...). I specifically remember seeing UWB on there are a default-checked option and greyed out (ie: I could not remove it).

I ordered on August 14th and it was no longer showing. Furthermore, my build sheet says "NO UWB" on it...

Sucks I know! Luckily, you have an option if yours does show up naked of the UWB stuff.

We've had a few people now successfully install it themselves for a parts cost of a little more than $100

If you have an hour of patience and a little handyman technique it is very doable.

I ordered on July 20, UWB was a option for my T61. It was available for both the T61 and T61p "6459 CTO" models then. I have it on my T61

I ordered my T61p on July 22, but I didn't see any UWB option. On the contrary, I didn't remember that I unchecked the UWB option anywhere.

The thing is, now the estimated ship date keep procrastinating, now to Sep 25, I am considering of cancelling the order may order a different configuration; T61p 14" or T61 15W or X61 tablet, but I can't find UWB in any of these models.

It will be kind of wierd if it was the default option in the past, and removed now. I don't see the price to be $100, or so, cheaper now. And it is not orderable by any means.

Another consideration is that, IBM/Lenovo usually locks that ONLY wireless mini PCI-express from Lenovo can be put in the slot and works with Access Connection, if we buy that UWB car from somewhere else, I am not sure that it will work.

How do I check the build sheet for my not-yet-arrived order? How could check both pre Aug-12 and Aug 14 order? (I assume your machine(s) has not arrived yet as well, right? )

My order confirmation e-mail only had one line of the configured system and another one line for the accessories I bought. No UWB anywhere.

I recently got a T61P 8891CTO.
Its 14.1" SXGA
Does it have a slot for a UWB card inside?

only the 15.4" models can pull it off right now.   not even the 14.1" widescreen models have enough room.

UWB is currently Out of stock... They told me to expect it back in mid September when i called...
