why the fan keeps running at a low speed?

#1 Post by mike20030405 » Mon Aug 27, 2007 1:53 pm

The machine is cool, and I just let the XP running(no applications except default services and Startup apps), but fan still keeps running at a low speed.
Not a big issue, but still wonder if the fan could run just SOMETIMES, like some guys here said:-)

(I know the TPfancontrol, seems not necessary for me coz I don't gaming, or run some high-load apps)

well a Core Duo will definitely cause the fan to run even if it's at low speed all the time. The fan in my T42 runs at low speed most of the time too but i don't even hear it anyways so it might as well be off. Only once in a while i actually hear it when running in High Performance mode but since i stay in Balanced (Vista Power Schemes) most of the time i don't even hear anything :)

It's not due to the Core (2) Duo but to the Radeon X1K or FireGL V5xx0. My T60p runs fanless during office work, surf, mail and so on. The fan only run while gaming. Thank to a HSF mod and TPfancontrol.
