noise when opening the lid

just got my thinkpad t61p, however, i've notice noise around the hinge area(not clicking noise but more like a plastic bending noise) whenever i open or close the lid . is this normal?

Is your T61p 15.4" or 14.1"? I don't hear that noise on my 4:3 14.1" T61.

I have a T60P 14.1" and I hear the noise you're talking about. I think it is the LCD's conection to the base of the laptop

I think I hear what you're hearing sometimes. It's kind of like the noise that would be made when bending a transparency. Don't know if it should be there or not.
