15.4" T61p's now available

#1 Post by thedogwarrior » Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:20 pm

Just purchased the following for just shy of $1600 from the /ibmspp website:

T61p, T7300 2GHz, Vista Ultimate, 15.4 WSXGA+, 256MB Quadro FX 570M, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200 HD, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, 4965AGN wireless, Bluetooth.

Ordered 8/29/07, estimated shipping is 9/17 (I'll post an update on this.)

I'll soon have the following for sale, and will post pics, etc., when I get the new one.

T60, T7200 2GHz, Vista Ultimate, 14 SXGA+, 128MB ATI x1400, 2GB RAM, 100GB 7200 HD, 8x DVDRW, 4965AGN wireless, Bluetooth.

The T60 is in great shape, I just need the bigger/wider screen and better graphics for some apps that I run.

That should be temporary I guess ... they'll be back once Lenovo has them in stock ... are you planning to getting one in the near future?
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

No way, I have too many computers at the moment.

I told myself if I saw the 15" version again on lenovo site, I will immediately buy it. I saw that last night but I didn't buy it because of that (WSXGA). I'm also concerning about the UWB too. Hopefully, they will offer the 15" WUXGA (old version they used to have) soon.

just call 800.96.THINK to order one directly.   the 15.4" WUXGA is still available for purchase even if it's not shown on the site.

I've had a 15.4" WUXGA on order since 7/23. I spoke to sales today and heard that it MIGHT ship the week of 2 September. He acknowledged that the WUGXA screen is the big problem. This sucks but I can live with it because I want the 256MB vid card.

More alarmingly I was told that there's a chance that it will never ship AT ALL if they can't get the display supply straightened out. If this happens I will probably take a closer look at non-Thinkpad brands which will break my heart - I've owned about a half-dozen thinkpads.

FWIW I got a 15.4" WUGXA 2.0 GHz with 100GB 7200RPM, 3GB/RAM, and a 9-cell battery. This was $2084. I odered an extra battery, 3-year onsite repair, and an extra Storage bay adapter for a grand total of $2303.00. Cheap! for a Thinkpad, but I'm hoping that the display isn't too disappointing (I'm finally retiring a T42p with the 1600x1200 IPS display). Said display has dimmed considerably over the years so perhaps the new one will look great.

I'll post here if the system ever shows up.
