Anyone know a good place to get batteries for the T61?

E-bay still seems to have a dearth of T61 batteries...

www.lenovo.com or from any IBM authorized business partner in your local area. They're genuine, you'll have peace of mind with 1 yr. warranty, they perform and deliver with consistency like thinkpads do unlike any 3rd party battery from ebay.

You can save a little bit of money (typically about 10%) by going to Lenovo.com through usa.visa.com/personal.

There are lots of genuine lenovo batteries on e-bay for ~60 bucks, which honestly, still seems a bit pricey to me. Compared to the 120-160 at lenovo.com though, it's a deal. I would love to buy them direct from lenovo, if they offered what I felt was a reasonable price for them.

Nothing to do but wait for the gray market to open up on these things?

a lot of items sold on ebay as "genuine" turn out to be counterfeit.

another option is to find the FRU number for the battery you want and buy it through IBM maintenance parts.   every battery they've sold me has been brand new in a sealed box.   you can also call 800.388.7080 (options 2:1:1) to speak with them directly.

I just recently picked up a 6-cell battery from an online site with an egg in its name and saved roughly $60 including shipping and tax compared to buying it directly from lenovo. It is a genuine OEM replacement battery.

Look up the FRU for the battery you're looking for. Then get the battery's part number from that, and see what kind of deal you can find around the net.
