I am looking into buing a gigabit Wireless N router, but I am uncomfortable with all this Atheros vs Intel, different makes/different drafts issues.

Can we have a show of hands on which routers are performing well with the T6x wireless N. (mine came with the Intel card)

Let's vote and discuss.
These are the candidates I have found searching online.

I am not into N, and you left out Netopia.

Know first, what your application is. If it just internet, then any of them should do fine. If you need VPN, know what the requirements are. Newer LinkSys (at least the WRT54G V6) do not pass VPN (known issue) and therefore may not work for you.

Talking routers without also talking firmware, is pointless IMHO. Take the Linksys WRT350N, a piece of junk with the default firmware, The Beta firmware introduced some major improvements, and some new bugs, the newest released firmware 1.03.6 seems to offer some major improvements, but it has not been out that long.

Opions vary widely about all the pre-N and Draft 2.0 routers. 802.11n is still very much a work in progress for the whole industry.

Personally my experience with my WRT350N has been fine, given that there is no final 802.11n standard as yet.
