T61 cannot go beyond 1.2GHz

#1 Post by sugo » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:00 am

Without battery attached running on AC, the 1.8GHz C2D T61 can only go up to 1.2GHz (slower than the 3 year old T42 :!: ), regardless of power profile settings in Lenovo Power Manager. Anyone sees the same issue? XP x86 here.

What is the proper channel to submit a bug report like this to Lenovo?

I had a Macbook pro that did the same thing (they all do in fact). The issue was related to a normal (as designed) power management function. Apple states "This prevents the computer from shutting down if it demands more power than the A/C adaptor alone can provide." I am willing to bet that Lenovo designed this feature into the newer Thinkpads for the same reason. I don't have a T61 to test this, but I am sure others can test for you. Also, I agree with their 'Important' note in the link below ... it also applies to Thinkpads.
