[Help] Two questoins about T61 and T61p

Hi, I'm new here and appreciate your help. I plan to order a T61 14" or T61p 14" with a 6 cells battery but can't see which is better for me. I won't play any game, just do developing, some movies daily use, and a little computer animation, e.g. 3D Max and Maya.

(1) I config them online and the only difference is T61 14" has NVS 140M (128MB) and T61p 14" has FX 570M (128MB). I do want to get more performance but also concern the heat and battery life. And I expect to connect an external 24" or 27" LCD with up to 1920x1200 resolution. So, what do you think? Is the NVS 140M enough? (I really can't take a 70 degrees GPU. Someone in forum said his 570M will get hot very soon. :? I definitely want my laptop be cool.)

(2) Since the labor day sale is over. When is the next best sale? Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year?

Thank you very much.

Sir, T61 14'' will do the job for you. Infact T61 with integrated graphics will also smoothly run the applications you mentioned.

In general, if you're looking for performance with good battery life then T61 with integrated gpu is a better choice. Otherwise go with T61/p with discrete graphics, the battery life is very acceptable there as well.

Please keep in mind heat is not an issue on either models.

deeastman, although the 25% sale is still available, the extra 20% coupon is over now :-)

Thank you so much, ryengineer. I guess I will order a T61 14" with NVS 140M when next big sale+coupon is coming.
