USB & freezes

I have looked through other posts before writing, and my apolgies if I have missed this being asked by anyone else already.

I have a T60 with which I have had near endless driver problems. I was content that I finally had these sorted and everything was working fine until, for the first time, I disconnected a USB connector from the machine whilst the machine was on.

I have since tried this again and, whether on AC or battery power, I am guranteed to get the same result every single time. The result being a hard freeze. So, it's not so much plug & play but unplug & freeze.

None of my other machines, be they TPs or other makes, have ever given me this problem before and I am clueless over what I may, or may not, have done to cause this freezing problem.

Would anyone have any suggestions please ?

No where near enough info to make a guess, what are you unplugging? Have you stopped it first? What OS are you running? Can you unplug a mouse, or a USB memory stick? With out knowing more any answer would be at best a guess.

Using XP-SP2. Freeze occurs on removing a USB memory stick or a USB printer or a USD hard drive. I do not switch off any of these devices before removing the USB connector but have never ever done so in the past, and never before experienced a freezing issue.

As I have endless driver problems already, I suppose it must be something more to do with the drivers.
