i remember santa rosa suppose to support 800Mhz. but the laptop came with 667Mhz.

so before im ordering additional 1G , i want to understand. can i sell the one i have and get 2G 800Mhz . i mean will it actually support that ?
or should i just go and buy another 667Mhz 1G ?

and where you guys recomend to buy it ?

thanks Dan

The 965 Intel chipset for santa rosa does not support 800 MHz memory speed, only a 800 MHz FSB. :)

there's a lil bit of confusion with that. As far as it's stated, the chipset does handle the RAM but it's not enabled or something in the BIOS. Other, same like other machines (T60 and Dell some machine) supporting 4GB of RAM while the T60 only supports 3GB. Both machines use the same exact parts but Dell enabled it or did something so that it can be used.

According to Crucial Memory's site, the T61 can support DDR2-667 as well as DDR2-800. The system ships with DDR2-667, so I would be interested in knowing if there is any performance difference as well.

They just recently added 2gig modules running at DDR2-800 within the last week, but they are much more expensive than the identical DDR2-667 modules.

well as i said in the post before yours. The system will read them but will only run them at 667mhz instead of 800mhz which is why there is some confusion there.
