Hi all,

here is my case: received T61 (64607EU) with Win XP preinstalled (by Lenovo ;)) - FP is not seen by the system. Reinstalling FP "software" did not help.

So far I've found similar topic about FP problem:

Not sure if it's exactly my case and looks like it was not resolved (according to Redmumba comment in my other post)... :(

Any ideas?
Thanks!

P.S. - I did not call Lenovo Support yet. Should I? :lol: :evil:

Have a look in device manager, if it doesn't show a boimetric device you should contact lenovo support. It maybe that the palm rest needs replacing or the connector doesn't have a clean connection.

You can re-seat the connector yourself, see HMM here;

BUT, as it is a new machine I would strongly recommend contacting Lenovo before starting any form of self diagnosis

I saw this information from milkster regarding clearing of the security chip (on a T43). You might give it a go.

thank you all!

the other idea I have is, could I deattach FP cable when I inserted additional 1GB memory? I saw something in that corner hanging around... :oops: :D I thought it is a temperature sensor.... :? :shock: :D

you won't believe me, guys! FP cable was unplugged! I guess something happened when they assembled the unit - the piece of scotch, which normally keeps that tiny cable in place have got stacked somehow in the main body - so either me did it when adding my extra 1GB RAM or it was like that from the factory. Unf. I did not test the unit on arrival and the FP particularly, I just opened it first to plug that 1GB thing in. :oops: :roll:

Anyways, I've plugged that [censored] tiny flat cable back into the FP board and now it works normally.

LOL!
