Ah ok. I assumed he just bought a replacement system board directly from Lenovo or IBM for a T61, i.e. it would probably be much cheaper than a new notebook.
During the T4x, it was possible to swap all the motherboards around the series, because the VGA port on the right side is an extension "board" with a connector on it, extending it to the motherboard.
With the WS models in the T6x this might not be possible, although the screw holes are the same - the connector area of the ultrabay sticks more out on the WS models it seems.
