T61p - Vista Recovered to XP Pro - Wireless and SDHC Issues

I recovered XP Pro onto my T61p using Lenovo supplied Win XP Pro (recovery CD set). I did the recovery onto a brand new HD and left Vista on the original HD, which was housed in the Ultrabay as additional storage.
Two issues I just found after using the "new" OS:
1) Intel 4965AGN - Internet speed test shows maximum download speed of 1Mbps (when service is 8Mbps), connected over a G network.
2) the build-in card-reader no longer reads the 8GB SDHC (level 6) card. It shows the card having 512 bytes capacity and not formattted
Windows and Lenovo updates have been done. In addition, the MS hotfixes for dealing with >4GB SDHC cards have been applied.
So, I rebooted the original HD which still has Vista. Guess what...
a) I was able to reach 8Mbps download speed; and
b) I was able to browse pictures off the 8GB SDHC card again.
I have no idea what causes the two problems yet.
I just want to see if anyone else who bought T61p loaded with Win XP Pro had similar issue.
