PS: The price is a little bit higher than the labor day sale(about $80 difference for the cheapest configuration of T61p), but it is still a great deal! Although, keep in mind that Intel Penryn will be out in Q1 2008 and the new Montevina platform will be out in Q2 2008.

This one deserves a bump. I tried pricing a 14.1" T61p and it was $200 cheaper with this coupon than with the USXGENERIC coupon in the education site.

Too bad I can't use this coupon in the education site. Otherwise...

I wish I could buy it from UK. Here all laptops seems highly overpriced and we do not get same deals as in US..

Lenovo needs to sort it out. As even buying in US + shipping it to UK and paying 17.5% tax on top is still allmost 2 cheaper than buying in UK.

I have ordered T61p 14" (4:3) laptop through eBay, it costed me more than it would have through link above. Still good value for $1569 + shipping $100 + tax 17.5%

Anyone can recomend how could i upgrade my waranty service in UK. I want to extend to 3 years.

I believe all things are expensive in UK, lenovo is just keeping up the pace with your country.

If it was non IWS model then you won't be able to do so.

I'm not sure yet - i will ask. That would be even more shame on Lenovo. I'm customer and i want to buy waranty in UK, can't see why they would not try to sell it or upgrade it.

I recently bought a machine from the USA (via BrentPresley of this site, first rate service, btw). When I went to pay my import VAT, the post office told me that there were vast numbers of computer and similar items being imported from the USA, presumably because because of the favourable exchange rate.

It was not possible for me to obtain a machine with the exact same spec from Lenovo UK, or an intermediate UK supplier, but the closest I could find would have cost me another 40% in GBP.

I guess it has a lot to do with the custom duties? It seems Thinkpad are not the only thing that is cheap in the U.S. but expensive everywhere else. Look at all the Apple products, those sold for 300USD in the U.S. are priced at 300 Euro or higher in Europe.

Since I will move to Germany from U.S. in the next month, I am seriously considering buying every electronics that I need before I leave and bring them with me.

btw, if someone, who lives in Germany, purchases a Thinkpad from a U.S. reseller and have it shipped to Germany, how much extra (VAT? custom duty) will he pay besides the sale price and shipping cost?

No, they aren't. ThinkPads are very rare here, due to their high Price. Where in US some people are in doubt between Dell D630 and Lenovo T61, here everyone takes the Dell, due to the fact that the T61 is at least 50% more expensive at same specs.

Just received Email from Lenovo that I will get 80US back(for price matching).
