T61p server 2003 on-screen display

under server 2003 on my T61p, if i push Fn+PgUp or Fn+Home/End, the thinklight and brightness displays show on the screen, however, as soon as i hit the volume buttons their functionality breaks. the volume keys physically work but i can't get them to display whatsoever.
have any of you installed server 2003 with a functioning on-screen display? if so, what version are you using? i'm currently running hotkey features 1.05.0482 (1XVU7WW) but it's not new enough to drive the new Fn+F2 or Fn+F8 keys. i tried 2.06.0708 (7KVU22WW), which is the latest, but couldn't get it to install.
thanks in advance.

Erik, i've not personally tested this, when I use a ThinkPad as a server , I want simply basic drivers installed and I wouldn't install all the ThinkPad specific apps as, while they may well work, they are not designed for Server 2003 and might jeopordise the integrity of the server.

i use it as a workstation. i need to host multiple sites simultaneously and server's version of IIS6 can handle it where XPP's version cannot. vista's version of IIS7 can do what i need but i keep running into driver support issues (under ultimate x64).
so, here's my problem... vista has really grown on me. i like it better than 2003/XPP but it's less stable and doesn't support all of my peripherals, forcing me to have a dual boot with a minimum of XPP. server 2003 is rock solid and supports all of my peripherals but only gives me 3.25GB addressable memory and has a few small issues with IBM/lenovo software.
i want to make the T61p work for me but am at wit's end on what to use for an OS because of driver/software issues. my T42p (which i still have) runs 2003 like a champ.

i've spent a good amount of time today trying to fix the problem to no avail. i think i'm going to stick with vista ultimate 64 and a boot into XPP for anything that's unsupported. i've enjoyed using 2003 on my T42p for years but vista is actually proving to be less troublesome on the T61p. plus i can see all 4GB of my memory.
