Thinkpad Screen Calibratoin Tools

#1 Post by STRYPER » Thu Sep 13, 2007 12:53 am

Are there any utilities available to calibrate my screen? My T61 seems to display whites in more of a slight blue-grey shade. Brightness levels are excellent however.

You could try the free calibration program "MCW" mentioned in this thread Here. It did what I needed it to and did a better job than Adobe Gamma.

hardware calibration gives the best results but you can also tweak colors in the display driver's control panel.   both ATI and nVidea have per-channel gamma control.   lowering blue gamma 10-15% can make a big difference.

otherwise, i'd recommend an eye-one display 2 for hardware calibration.   i've seen them sell for around $180~190 if you look around.

Lowering Gamma 15%

#5 Post by Truthfinder » Thu Sep 13, 2007 10:40 pm

I have felt that my T-60 was a bit high in where the BLUE is concerned, so I did make an adjustment in the Gamma (BLUE) down by about 15%, thus improving the video diplay.

Thanks for the heads up. I know it was meant for the T-61, however, it certainly helped with my T-60 as well....

maybe its just me, but the settings are fine at default for me. i barely made any adjustments using the nVidia control panel, and it was only for video.

brightness is good too.
ordered (8/12), estimated ship date (8/30). cant wait!!!

If you want more options than mentioned above, have a look in the thread: Questions regarding colorvision spyder usage with thinkpads - not all tools may be usable under Vista, if that's your OS (?).

On my T42p, running Win XP (and having an ATI display interface) there is the option of doing some manual adjustment if opening Control Panel --> Display Settings --> Properties --> Advanced --> and then the "ATI Color" tab. You may have something similar (a nVidea panel?)

Best regards,

Johan

I used the Optix XR DTP-94 to calibrate my T61's 15.4" LG monitor. If anyone has the LG monitor you could PM me your e-mail address and I could e-mail the .icm profile to you.

Of course this icm file is custom calibrated to my monitor, but if you have the LG monitor on your T61 I'm sure it's better than no profile at all... it's probably close.
