Question about cloning software

#1 Post by laundromatt » Thu Sep 13, 2007 3:49 pm

why do people even bother with acronis trueimage to clone their drives? can't i just pop in the new blank drive in the primary hard drive bay, boot off of an external HD that has IBM's Rescue and Recovery installed on it, along with a backup, restore one of the backups, and be good to go?

i haven't tried it, so i don't know for sure. hence, this post.

thanks - matt

Acronis TI 10 works every time, plus is quick and straightforward to use.

It's a matter of 2 1/2 hours for Rescue & Recovery vs. about 15 minutes with Acronis. Additionally, there is the matter of Windows wanting to run off the hard drive it was installed on, or you have to go thru the phone call hassle to India for another license code.

hmmm, okay. so RR will work, but trueimage is faster? if i was still working, i would just go and get it, but i'm back in school and i'm using all my disposable income on the drive...

You could try the trial version of Acronis to clone a drive...
