I installed Dual Boot with Vista and XP.
i did updated to SP2 , i did the lenovo "System update".
all seems fine except this : sounds doesnt work and i have those on my Device manager :
? PCI Device
? PCI Simple Communications Controller
So i tried manually to download and install the Audio Driver and the Modem driver and this is what i get :
For the Modem :
"Driver installation Failed : Could not find the device for this driver"
For the Audio :
"The HDA Audio bus driver is required and not found"
any idea what i'm doing wrong ?
thanks Dan

you probably have to get that High Definition Audio patch for XP. Not sure where to get it but i'm sure you can google for that.
The modem issue is weird.

Naw, Google not necessary...
Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver (Q888111) for Windows XP with Service Pack 2
Be sure and install the UAA driver before installing the Audio Driver.

i got a working solution.
the file is
kb888111xpsp1.exe
or
kb888111xpsp2.exe
depending on which service pack you have.
download and install that, then install the soundmax drivers.
it worked for me

I think that is what I just linked to above.
I didn't link to a file for service pack 1, but who is going to put XP SP1 on a T61?

thanks guys well almost everything works.
UUA fixed the Audio and Modem.
then i installed BT manually too and it works.
now i still have the "PCi Simpler Communication Controller"
could it be that it's looking for IR ?

well i figured the Simple PCI communication.
it's that Intel AMT - enabled on my BIOS. i disabled it and now no more "unknown PCI" devices.
thanks
