XP Drivers

I finally got my XP partition booting w/Vista. I downloaded the ethernet driver from Lenovo and that was pretty much the only thing that worked (i.e. installed successfully). I also downloaded the system update utility but after I installed it and rebooted the thing wouldnt even load. Now when ever I try to install a diff driver manually (display, chipset w/e). It gives me an error message before the insaller even opens. "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstallign the application may fix this problem." so all I can do now is get online but my graphics and everything is real messed up. Anyone no where I went wrong? thanx
