ThinkPad T61 warranty - 1 year on-site repair

#1 Post by presurageorge » Sat Sep 15, 2007 11:12 pm

Hello.

I just bought a Lenovo ThinkPad T61 (6465-CTO) from Lenovo website and I received it on September 11 2007.
I also bought a 1-year on-site next business day repair service.

But as soon as I opened it I have noticed that the display case is cracked in the bottom-left side. You can see the attached picture.

Can someone please guide me what should I do to exchange the display ?
I am vvey dissapointed of their services. The website doesn't help me at all. The documentation also doesn't have a clear serction about this protection service: where to call, how to proceed, etc.

I have contated in Waskington state (Kirkland) few service contractors from IBM but one of them doesn't offer IBM service anymore and the other onw I couldn't reach it by phone. I will insist next week.

I also have another problem: I am going to work every day from Monday to Friday durin 8:00 to 17:00, and it is very difficult for me to spent a day going to service. If I let the laptop home a representative from Lenovo should come and check it / repair it at home right ? (I am staying with some friends and one of them will be home during the working hours of the Lenovo representatives).

And for my case, what exactly should I ask for exchange ? Only the display (15.4" WXGA) or the whole laptop ?

Has anyone had similar problems or used the on-site repair service from IBM / Lenovo ?

Thank you.

Regards,
George Presura.

that's not a crack.   it's the lid separating from the bezel most likely due to the nearby screw being too loose or too tight.   the screw is covered by a circular adhesive piece of ABS plastic (you can see it in your photo).   if you want to fix this yourself then all you need to do is uncover the screw and try tightening or loosening it to see if that helps.

otherwise just call IBM and they will come out to your location -- including work.   tell them to bring a screwdriver. ;)

Please call IBM EasyServ at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7)! and explain your issue in detail.

A trained service provider will be dispatched at your door to repair or exchange your machine.

FYI, Protection Service is an accidental coverage and is separate from On-site warranty service.

Good Luck!
