The audio drivers on/off output audio content. One day I turn on my computer, and the sound works. The next day, the audio not working. Solution? Restart or enter/exit hibernation 3 times .

Often, a white dot appears at random places on my computer screen, almost like a dead pixel.

The computer freezes. Sometimes, I will not re-boot after it has gone into hibernation.

Often, it boots SLOW and LAGS. Yes, it is on performance mode. And for the money I spent, and the specs it has, this should NOT be an issue.

When playing back video, the video playback will show white lines through the picture . This is with all programs. No playback problems on my Dell, however...

So, who wants to buy a t61P?

All the issues you mentioned are operating system / improperly installed software/drivers related, Windows Vista is my guess.

XP pro. So, I would have to re-install everything to sufficiently get my computer to run properly? What a drag...

Oem preload from lenovo seems to have less problem as compared to clean install where one has to find proper drivers and find a way to make them work properly. But that shouldn't be of much conern to any efficient user.

I have some experience with Think/pad/plus/.... machines and have seen things work both ways if done properly.

For the novice user i wouldn't suggest installing a clean Windows, too. Use BSA to create a custom recovery of Windows.

If you are experienced and willing to read thru all the Lenovo docs than go either with Driver Matrices downloads or easier with System Update.

Agree with Ryengineer.

Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz + 2GB of RAM + XP = impossible to boot/run slow with a correct OS/software installation

To the original poster,

If you are really Steve Jobs as your username says, why are you using a thinkpad? Shouldn't you be using a Macbook?

To remove the "white dot" try pressing the middle mouse button. To change this behavior, configure your UltraNav settings to make the middle mouse button do something useful.

Seriously, you have complained about you new T61p since the day after you received it, more then a month ago. What have you done to correct the problem, reinstalled? called Lenovo support? What?

Return your machine and ask for a new one Steve Jobs, the day the machine was sent to you wasn´t a lucky one, I think that there are 1 faulty machine every 10.000 good ones. I wouldn´t accept such errors caused by fate, Lenovo has to send you a 100% operative machine... don´t mess with software installations. Well, and the next time with such a name... buy an Apple

If it has 1920x1200 resolution and if you're selling it really cheap, I would like to buy it. I really miss that resolution on my 15.4" Dell inspiron 6000. Right now I have 2048x1536 which has even more real estate but things look a tad too small, and 1600x1200 which is a bit too low. 1920x1200 offers the best compromise.

PW, i would have sold you my T61p but it kicks [censored] and i'm keeping it.

Am I being slow when thinking that whilst 1920x1200 gives more real estate than 1600x1200, things should be the same size on both because the resolution is the same. It is just that, with the former, the WS gives the user 320 more pixels of real estate across the screen.

Certianly not wanting to pick an argument with the forum's screen resolution guru. Rather, I was hoping to learn something.

Don't worry, I don't see it as an argument, but rather a request to clarify. 1920x1200 has 20% more pixels than 1600x1200; I find this extra 20% very helpful, and that's why I said 1600x1200 is a bit too low. In terms of how big things appear, the 15.4" 1920x1200 Dell I used to own had 147 dots per inch, whereas the 14.1" 1600x1200 T42 I am using has 141.8 DPI, so things look slightly bigger on the T42.

why what is wrong with the pre-load? installing clean windows could result in a lot of issues as Steve Jobs has noticed already.

Which number should I call, and which department should I ask to be transferred to? I just called the general number and none of the options suited my needs...

I'll give Lenovo a second try, but if I get another bad one, I am done with Lenovo...

Go into recovery, re-install and remove all the Lenovo crap while restoring the image. Lenovo loaded it up with so much memory sucking crap that it's not even funny. You will definitely notice a difference. Also, max out the RAM, 3GB minimum.
