Won't power down

Hmm, it appears that my computer has stopped powering down on my command (but does it happily if I play games). It goes through the whole shut-down process, but when the screen blanks, it doesn't shut down completely (the battery light stays on, when I'm running on battery). I have to hold the power button to complete the shut-down. I'll be sending my computer back for repairs for the aforementioned gaming problem, but that might not fix this one.
