Gamma control with Intel Graphics Media Acc vs Adobe Gamma

My T61 currently uses the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver to control gamma, brightness and contrast. However, it's still too white/bright. The gamma is currently set at 1.0 in the software and won't go lower.
However, when I use the Adobe Gamma calibrator, it can lower the Gamma down more and the screen looks much richer and not washed out. Unfortunately, everytime I reset the computer, it goes back to the Intel Driver settings.
Is there a way I can turn the Intel drivers off and use only Adobe? Or lower the gamma more some other way?
