Remove AC still charging?

Well some of you may know I've been having battery problems on my T60 and I can't figure it out.

At first battery wouldn't charge, so I purchased a new battery and that didn't charge.

So I thought it might be software related and did a restore from the restore disks. This solved the problem until today when I start up the computer and the system does a scan disk on start. Now whenever I pull the AC cord out of the laptop it says that the battery is still charging (which it is not because the battery will drain down and I just continue to use AC power). The system also does not beep when the AC is removed and the light for AC remains on when the AC cable is removed.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this? Productive answers please. I did a search and laptop is out of warranty and i did buy a new battery.

Can I suggest turning your computer off, unplugging the AC adapter then powering up your computer and pressing the F1 key to enter the BIOS does the indicator light still say the AC is plugged in? If so I believe you have a hardware failure. You could try rolling back the firmware to a point where the embedded control gets reprogrammed as well, and see if that makes a difference.

yes it still shows that AC is connected. It's so strange because when I booted with a windows cd and reformatted the computer, it worked fine. When I restore with my recovery cd's that I made a year ago... the problem persists.

How do you roll back the firmware?
