New Bios 1.22 out ! Optimize power management for NVS140 !

#1 Post by meditate2001 » Thu Sep 20, 2007 5:55 am

(New) Optimize power management function for the nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M models.
(Fix) Resume operation from hibernation may fail with Intel Turbo Memory on Windows Vista.
(Fix) Power-on password prompt may appear even if fingerprint authentication was matched at power on timing.

Nice one !!! Good to see that they do something with the 140...

I just installed the new bios. Havn't done much since updating, but I have noticed lower idle temps. The lowest I've been able to get the temps to go on idle is ~40C in an air conditioned room. After installing the bios I was able to get down to 38C and its about 75C out today and the windows are open. This is with a 14.1" standard T61 with T7300 and 140M. Max core temps under load, averaging about 76/77C down from 80C. Thank you lenovo!

I don't think I notice any battery gain at all. I am getting about 2 hours 15 minutes per charge on a 6 cell maybe a bit more. What kind of battery life are you guys getting with this card?

Nothing noticeable changed on my T61, however its nice to see a fairly regular stream of BIOS updates as Lenovo tries to make improvements.

I get ~2:45+ with the 4 cell battery + an Ultrabay battery while surfing the web (802.11g) and screen on full bright. I can get almost 2 hours of runtime while playing Warcraft as well.

Is someone try this bios with Windows Vista Ultimate x64?

Since I did the update I can't get the Power Options window in the control panel. Windows say "your power plan information isn't available"

I did uninstall power management driver and power manager and reinstall them but this have chance nothing to the situation.

Is it possible to flash to a previous bios version?

I too have 64 bit Vista Ultimate, and BIOS 1.22, but my Power Options panel is working.

I wish I checked with the old BIOS, however now it looks like I can get down to ~11.5 watts power consumption with wireless on and the max runtime option in Power Manager. I have the Thinklight on as well. System is a T7100, NVS 140, 2GB DDR2, 80GB 5400RPM, 14.1 inch widescreen. That is good for right around (or just under) 4 hours of battery life of late night web surfing and typing. I have the 4 cell battery and the Ultrabay battery.

jee, 11.5 watts really sounds good, or ? i have 12-13 in the powersaving scheme, and around 19 with max.performance.

it really sounds very low, or ? how was it at the t60, or t4x ???
