T60 "Wake Up" problem

#1 Post by rebop » Sat Sep 22, 2007 1:08 pm

Ok, happened for the second time this morning, so time to ask for help.

T60, docked, AC and 100% battery showing for background. Always left on.

First time I had a power failure. The T60 went to battery, then a mode where it could not be brought back. I had to hold power for an extended time to reboot. Nothing on the monitor. Not sure if this was Sleep or Hibernate or what mode. No problems rebooting, but lost my current programs and places where I had left my work. Should have responded to something to revive it, no?

Today, awoke to a stuck screensaver. Did not show the sleep icon on. Did not respond to anything on the external or internal keyboard including CTRL-ALT-DEL to try to get to task manager.

Again had to reboot by holding power to shut down dirty.

What is the best way to revive in these situations?

BTW, nothing of interest in Event Manager either time nor anything of interest when I searched for last modified files to see if something caused this.

Thanks for any help offered.

Interesting.

Prompts me to include two more bits of information, at least on this mornings instance:

The "moon" was NOt illuminated.

All USB lights on all USB devices including powered hub were off.

So, you might be on to something. Though I am not sure I choose to roll back the BIOS to test this. Maybe another way to fix the problem?
