I have Downloaded the

MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows Vista

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 68589.html

1v29ez00lmc-a.exe

When I run the Install I get a Message:

This program is not for use under this Operating System,

I run Visata Business 32. on a T60 / HDG 8744

How do I get the Application installed ?

Thankx.

Do you have your CDRW/DVDRW installed when you tried to run the program? I don't have access to mine, and thought this might be the reason. If it was installed then there is a problem with the driver, (to much security) cause I'm seeing the same thing on Windows Vista.

Driver for DVD writer is Fine

I can make a CD/DVD with Vista No problem, so i guess the driver is working, not to sure if there was a Windows update for the DVD writer. I will try and fiddle a bit more.

Thankx.

Do you have a factory installation or is it a clean install?
Bare install files can be extracted from the package-for-the-web wrapper by using the following command:

1v29ez00lmc-a.exe -ex
The default extraction directory is C:\swtools\apps\1v29ez00lmc-a.

Is your machine type listed in the text file?

"This software applies to the following IBM and Lenovo systems:

7658,7659,7660,7661,7662,7663,7664,7665
6377,1959,6481
7732,7733,7734,7735,7737,7738,7742,7743,7744,7751,7753,7754,7755
8942,8943,8944,8945,8948,8949
7668,7669,7675,7676,
8891,8892,8897,8898,
6547,6459,6460,6465"

It may be the installer looks for certain models only to install.

That may will be the case, but why then does it appear as an option, for other systems? In his case, his machine an 8744 HDG came with Windows Vista, and a CDRW/DVDRW he ***should*** have a right to upgrade. See this page.

- This update will only install on the listed Lenovo machine types
- This update requires that a CD Writer be installed
- Previous versions of Multimedia Center for Think Offerings must be removed to
use this applicaiton
- This software is incompatible with Blu-ray and HD-D
EDIT: Although I didn't see a reference to it, I wonder if you do not need either Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate to install this software due to it's multimedia nature?

I had XP on my T60 a while back and the Multimedia Offerings Worked just fine.

Now that I reverted back to Vista Business It no longer works.

I reset my machine to Factory State using the Recovery Feature,
so it is not as I received but I did do a Restore to Factory Defaults.

At that point there was no Multimedia Offerings installed;
I then Downloaded the Multimedia Offerings for Thinkpads
and Could not Install the Software/ not sure why on Vista Business.

I know System Update is regarded notorious for performing updates but when someone I know moved to Windows Vista Business (clean install) from Windows XP pro, it picked up the MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings and the installation went clean as a whistle.

Once again I'll ask did you have the Lenovo CDRW/DVDRW installed? Without this installed you will not get the Multimedia Offerings installed, the presents of the CD/DVD or the absents of the drive effects how your machine is set up. You say that the Multimedia offerings where not installed in your default factory restore, something is wrong here. Until they are, I believe you are locked out of upgrading. I have a select bay hard drive option if I do a full factory recovery to that drive, the Multimedia offerings are not installed, because there is no CD/DVD drive in my system.

My System T60 8744 HDG Came Standard with a DVD Writer.

The Update does not List the Multimedia Offerings but when I go
via the WEB and Fill in the description of my Machine
T60 / 8744 / HDG I see the Multimedia Offerings.

If I am I correct, you did a factory restore, from the service partition, with your dvd in the bay and it did not install the Multimedia Offerings.

Have a look in C:\SWTOOLS\apps, if you have a folder called MMCfto you can install the Multimedia from there.

I did a Factory ReSet to Defaults , using the Blue Think Button,
then Create one CD to Boot and one DVD with I Guess Drivers and Vista on it; it made the cd and DVD from the Hidden partition.

I looked under the SWStools\APPs Folder and there is no

MM??? Directory. I guess it is not Applicable to my System.

Yet for XP it is, but not for Vista that cam preloaded.
