i'm trying to order a t61p but only intel a/g/n cards seem to be available, not the atheros a/g/n. are these discontinued? if i order the atheros a/b/g, is it possible to upgrade to the n card if i purchase it separately (enough antennae?)? Thanks!

the cards are available for the t61s, but they don't show up as an option, I was able to find the part number for them but when I called lenovo to purchase one they were not able to find it or give me the price for it, my t61 does have the intel agn card but I would love to have the atheros one

A couple of months ago there was some talk about a newer 2.0 draft n. Ever since 2.0 came out, the atheros n card has become unavailable. I wonder if incompatibility with the 2.0 standard was the reason why Lenovo pulled the atheros card. This is pure speculation on my part.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

are these cards easily user-upgradable? Is it likely that I can purchase an n-card in the future and stick it in myself? And is the 14" t61p with the a/b/g card capable of an upgrade to N?

Do the current Intel T61 a/g/n cards support the new 2.0 Draft N standard?

The ThinkPad a/b/g/n card is on the Wi-Fi alliance list of certified Draft 2.0 products.

Depending on BIOS version/whitelists, they are user upgradable. I have recently updated my X60s from an Intel 3945ABG to an ThinkPad/Atherod a/b/g/n card.
