Well it doesn't seem to support my Hitachi 7K100 (HTS722020K9SA00) SATA hard disk in my T60P. :(

DAH,

That's correct. Your drive is NOT a 7K100, but 7K200 version!!
Firmware upgrade is for 7K100 version only.

On Sunday, my 7K200 running only OpenSuse 10.3 RC1 in a week old T61p became unbootable with No Operating System Found. I had to reinstall the boot loader to get it working again via grub-install. I wonder if there is any relation to that problem and this firmware update. The 7K200 is probably not listed as it only became available this week.

fyi, the encrypted models offered on lenovo.com are all seagate drives, not hitachi.   not enough supply of hitachi BDE drives can be sourced for lenovo to use them right now.
