T61 vs R61

#1 Post by chris72a » Tue Oct 02, 2007 5:57 am

Hi All,

Recently I have had the opportunity to test a T61 and a R61, Currently Own T61 14.1 w/s. Other than a faster processor and firewire, I really can't see too much difference between the 2 and obviously the dollars. I have searched for comparisons but haven't been able to find any. Can anyone shed any light on the big difference between the R61 and T61, Right now I'm a little dissapointed that I could have bought the r61 a lot cheaper and got the same product. Build quality etc feels the same, so what are we paying the extra for in the T61. Previously there was a large noticeable difference between the 2 but know I am not so sure.

Cheers
Chris.

If you can read traditional Chinese, read this. Or get it translated by Google Language Tools.

the article written in traditional chinese mentioned diffierences between T61/R61 as below:

1.T61 is thinner than R61
2.T61 is lighter than R61
3.material of the heat sink is different
T61 uses copper while R61 uses aluminum
4.The Ultrabay port at the right side is different.
T61 uses UltraBay slim which is 9.5mm thin.R61 uses UltraBay Enhanced which is 12.7mm thin.

All the differences listed are related with thickness.
It seems that T series and R series are getting closer and closer.

Rough comparison.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
