faulty 3945ABG wifi card?

#1 Post by ddroyston » Thu Oct 04, 2007 4:53 am

Hi guys,

I've recently replaced my Intel 3945ABG (Anatel) wifi card for my IBM Lenovo T60, but the problem is that as soon as I install it and switch the laptop on, the screen is blank? The wifi light comes on (regardless of whether or not the wifi switch at the front of the laptop is switched on or off) and the power light comes on and I can hear the hard drive starting up......but the screen stays blank??

As soon as I uninstall the wifi card, and switch on the laptop, its absolutely fine, and the laptop will boot up into windows no problem with the screen fine.

Now I've tried a different wifi card, but I get "Error 1802" which I've researched and found out that won't work as it's not on IBM's "official list" of cards to use.

So this new card I've got should be on the "official list", but as I say, I get a blank screen when its installed..... My question is, is this new card (purchased off ebay) faulty, or is the laptop making a fuss because the PCI-ID of the card is different to the original card?

Any help on getting this working would be much appreciated :-)

thanks guys

thanks for the response droopy, but unfortunately the no-1802 solution doesn't work with newer Thinkpads......I think it works with all models prior to the T43

Anyways, I emailed the seller on ebay, and he tells me it could be a faulty wifi card, and has offered to send me another card to try.

I'll let everyone know if that was what the problem was

If anyone has any suggestions in the mean time, I'm all ears
