I just did a fresh install of Vista biz on my machine, I did almost all the updates(skipped stupid ones like thinkpad network access etc.), however my screen when hit the key to adjust the brightness stays at full. I even see the green thing at the bottom of the screen that tells you the bright, i tried using windows as well to adjust the brightness but had no luck. Is there a driver or certain app that I need for this to work correctly.

Thanks!

Make sure you have:

1. Hotkey
2. Lenovo System Interface
3. and ACPI Power Management drivers installed for Vista.

I just confirmed the install of those 3 items and rebooted with no luck. I am a little stumped :/

I found that it was the Nvidia drivers I was getting from there site. I used there drive and laptopvideo2go. I had to look at Lenovo's driver and see what is controlling the brightness and then added the string into the patch inf file.

The line is:

[nv_SoftwareDeviceSettings]
HKR,, EnableBrightnessControl, %REG_DWORD%, 0x00000001
