Since I have and use my R61 15,4 WSXGA+, I really love this resolution. But R61 is very heavy (about 2850 gr). In the same time I also have from office a T61 14" 1400x1050 and this is really a step back : too small working place. By the way, I also have a T60p SXGA+. I still enjoy it but all my screen are now 16/10 excepted the T60p. To tell the true, I'am now less and less in love with 4/3 form factor...
So :
14" 1440x900 : laptop size/form fator are nice but desktop is far too small. Not enough pixel heigh for photo editor. => NO
14" 1400x1050 : best ratio size/resolution but 4/3 ratio didn't seduce me any more. I work most time on Dell 2407WFP... => From YES to nearly NO
15,4" 1680x1050 : I really enjoy the large desktop work area but laptop are so big. I can deal with size but not with weight. => YES but...
This leads me to the ThinkPad T61p 6457-8LG : 15,4" WSXGA+, Quadro FX 570m, 9 cells battery. French link :

According to the Lenovo website, size is about the same as R61 (but of course thiner) : 357 x 255 x 30 mm. Can someone tells me the real heigh from desk to cover closed ?
Most time datas did not take care about the rubber pads !
I'also would like to know the real weight. Lenovo says 2,72 kg but according to their specs my R61 should weight 2,83 kg. In real life, it's 2,95 kg. Too heavy ! I check my current T60p : 2,52 Kg. This is perfect. I would like to be sure about the weight, any one can confirm the weight ?
Hi Pianowizard, I found a digital scale here and it read 2.77Kg.
This was for the T61p from GarryF witch is WUXGA+ with 6 cells.
Now, the very down side : battery life seems to be short. I read about 18 Watts so with 84 Wh battery, only about 4 hours. My T60p goes over 5 hours. It's perhaps better to wait the same T61P with Penryn 45 nm CPU.
What about GPU temp ? Does it run cool ? If I compare T61/R61 to T60p, Quadro NVS 140m heat far less then FireGL V5200. But I don't know about the *big* Quadro...
Any advise or comment is welcome... I got planty of time to make up my mind and for more before buying.
The perfect Thinkpad for me is a 14,5" (not 15,4) WSXGA+ with a powerfull GPU, the *smallest CPU*, the fastest hard drive, 5 hours with 9 cells and 2,6 Kg.
