T60 can't get to the recovery screen

#1 Post by PK » Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:02 am

I'm trying to format my thinkpad, but when I press the ThinkVantage blue button at the startup to "interrupt the normal startup", I don't see the option for the recovery at all.

However, if I go to Admistrative Tools-> and check my disk status, it still says IBM_SERVICE partition remains.

Why does my thinkpad fail to redirect me to the recovery program?
What should I do to have the normal IBM recovery system again?

What Is A Floppy Diskette?

<rant>Seriously, who has a USB floppy drive anymore these days? My MBR is 'corrupted' because I used exclusively Linux. I wanted to install XP so I can use iTunes until Amarok supports my new iPod. My Rescue & Recovery Disc doesn't boot and I need a USB floppy drive? Unbelievable.
Every day there's another nail in Microsoft's coffin... What garbage it is Lenovo won't provide 'normal' Windows install discs. I create backed-up copies of Windows and they won't work. I've been ripped off. My time has been wasted.
So what I'll just do is use the iMac at work for awhile to manage my iPod. I keep forgetting what a pain any software that uses serial numbers is.</rant>
Fedora 7 on my ThinkPad is wonderful.
