Internet problems during lock

Access connections seem to be acting up on me. Whenever I lock my computer (T61p Vista) and unlock it, AC tries to connect to a wireless network, despite being wired to a LAN. Even if I have the radio hardware switch off, it still tries to connect, except I get a prompt that tells me that the radios are switched off.
Also, I'm not entirely sure AC maintains my wired internet connection. I left a torrent on overnight and left my computer locked, but when I checked back in the morning, all of my torrents were frozen at pretty much the same place they were when I left them, and I was unable to connect to the internet.
Also, when I put my computer to sleep and wake it up later, it refuses to connect to the internet as well.
Anyone have the same problem?
